About Us

Welcome to The Art Shack!

The Art Shack was born from searching for that "something different" party for our own children.  What The Art Shack offers you is an exciting, alternative, fun & affordable pARTy. Yes, it really is a party with a difference!

The Art Shack is offering your child & their friends the chance to use their imagination to create a craft item that they can take home and treasure.  In addition to this, we put a lot of effort into making the party extra special, by decorating your chosen venue to compliment the theme and we also use traditional party games to add to the fun.

We want your child to feel involved in the preparations of their party, please feel free to use the contact us page to submit your question or suggestions via the web, or to contact us directly.

Our parties are not just for the very young (e.g. 5-8yrs), or specifically just girls or just boys, there are plenty of crafts to choose from that will keep 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13,14 & 15 year olds (and for that matter any age, right up to adults!) entertained and enthralled without any problem. In fact, we have found the older you are the more time and care you take and some superb works of art have been created.  Craft work is for all.

Party	"Many thanks for making Gemma's 6th birthday party such great fun.  She and her friends had a great time and we've had really positive feedback from their parents (hopefully some more bookings to follow…?).  Having felt so under the weather, it was such a relief to be able to leave the pair of you in charge of the children and just sort out their food before watching them having fun painting their T-shirts and then playing party games.  The piñata was a great hit and Alastair now wants one at his party!   I'm not sure it will last so long with a group of 7/8 year old boys though….!! ... Once again thanks for taking on all the work and making Gemma's day so memorable. "

Paint your own Pottery

Create the perfect keepsake to treasure forever.

Just had a baby?  Then why not get your ante-natal group together again and get all your new babies footprints immortalised on a tile, mug or plate for you, granny/grandpa, aunts/uncles to cherish forever.  They are only so small for a very short time, keep your memories alive.  Handprints suitable for over 1yr, Footprints are recommended for under 1yr.

Handprints can be taken at any age - why not get granny & grandpas too!

pARTies:  Also available are small figures which are ideally suited to parties and can be painted with "take home on the day" acrylic paints.  Variety of shapes to choose from - e.g. cats, dogs, dinosaurs, fairies, horses, teddies, dolphins.   These can also be painted with underglaze paint and fired by us and returned a week or so later, just like the tiles, mugs & plates.  Once fired, items are food safe, and can be hand washed as required (dishwasher is not recommended for precious Pottery!).

Create your own special breakfast dish or diner plate, a unique personalised mug for mum/dad's office - the choices and fun are endless!

Venue News

Do you want a tranquil place to paint a nice piece of pottery at your leisure?  Or perhaps have an item from home you want to mosaic (e.g. plain box, table top, vase, plant pot)?

Then we can arrange to be at the Botanic Gardens whenever you need us - just give us a call on 01382 477570 to arrange. 

Anyone can produce a "masterpiece" you don't need to be "arty" - come and give it a try, it's great fun for ALL ages!

Spam/Junk Emails

It has come to our attention that our email address/es is being used to send out spam (unwanted/vulgar) & emails with attachments containing virus programs, we also receive loads of spam from local and global addresses.

The Art Shack prides itself for the proper use of the web and email.  We will never send unsolicited email and will never attach files unless they have been requested. 

Our emails will always have a full description as to what the email is about (i.e. never a one liner) and we will sign off at the end with name, website and tel no.

Sensible precautions are: Do NOT open any attachment in an email from anyone unless you were expecting it and know it's valid, also ensure your computer is protected with virus protection software (e.g. Norton or McAfee, others are available)

Remember it doesn't need to be your birthday to have a party. Why not have Present Making, Start/End of Term, Baby/child foot/hand prints, Christmas or get together and do something different parties! 

Now offering Wedding entertainment - worried what the best man will say during the speeches, worried little Jimmy/Jenny might run a riot?  Let The Art Shack provide activities for the kids during speeches and photo shoots, they may even produce a special work of art to present to the bride & groom.

Whatever the occasion, The Art Shack have the crafts and games to entertain everybody.

We are very happy to organise workshops/events/demonstrations/fundraisers for organisations & groups.  e.g. Rainbows, Beavers, Scouts, Brownies, Guides, youth groups, schools, nurseries, adult groups, pensioners & special needs.
